A 14th Century Rowel Spur - Spur356 may25 5cm) x 13" (33cm)This excavated spur has a revolving rowel which still turns. The rowel has six points. The neck has two incised bands of decoration. The heel bands are quite deeply curved to accommodate the rider's ankle bone. There is a round loop on each of the arms(one of these is incomplete), two flattened strap hooks are attached to one side with wire and a hook and a round buckle hang from the other. The buckle is still functional This spur has been cleaned and
