The fabric is from the swatch books that you would pick your curtains from as these are thrown away once out of season

The base is slate and from my local reclamation yard

Some pieces are from swatch books and some are off cuts and quite a decent size

The effect I get when making them is different every time so no two brooches are ever the same

The grass and the caps are made from soft velvet upholstery fabric and the stalks are made from PVC upholstery fabric, both are from the swatch books you would pick your high end sofa fabric from. Sadly they would all be thrown away once they had gone out of season. The mushrooms are decorated using free motion embroidery with glass beads for the 'spots' on
