在與王家衛導演合作的這段期間，夏永康成功朔造出東方電影獨出機杼的攝影表現方式，其色彩絢爛的鏡頭底下堪稱巨星雲集，張國榮、梁朝偉、張曼玉、章子怡等人皆是他的合作對象，同時間他也為多個時裝品牌從事影像創作。2006 年，受到東京六本木的森美術館之邀，舉辦夏永康個人攝影展「Wing Shya Exhibition」，成為首位非本土的攝影師站上此藝術殿堂。
