They really get back to the basics, and for kids in particular I think they are an effective way to focus not on what Trample does, what Fly does, and so forth but on the REAL way to play the game

You could have opponents grinding you out with Squadron Hawk plus Brainstorm or five copies of Accumulated Knowledge

Anytime you can cheat out an Archon of Cruelty or some other huge swingy creature, that's good

This gives the deck more mana to work with than a typical Azorius Control deck, which makes it a decent home for Invasion of New Phyrexia as a finisher
