Deveney says they wanted to stick close to what fans would expect from its pixel art sprites and limited concept art while also expanding upon them, and hopes that the character designs should feel like how you remember them, despite being a hybridization of many different references and new ideas. To help accomplish that, WOTC even consulted directly with the Final Fantasy 6 team as they updated these character to the standards needed for Magic art
If, during a player's declare attackers step, a creature that player controls that's been goaded is tapped, is affected by a spell or ability that says it can't attack, or hasn't been under that player's control continuously since the turn began (and doesn't have haste), then it doesn't attack
With Tianas ability, Special Reservation, anytime one of your characters is challenged while Tiana is exerted, the challenging character gets -3 strength unless your opponent pays three ink
It's more satisfying to have all the various Pirate characters working together and then pull out a card like "Moana, Kakamora Leader" , than attempt to synergize the Inventor and item cards in the Emerald/Sapphire deck
The two foil cards are really good, especially if you can give them Rush and get their use straight away
