I daresay its better in Timeless than Historic, considering that the former has scarier combos that need disruption

The biggest problem this deck has is playing against combo, where it sort of lacks the tools to stop them

This is not super conducive to the default Planeswalker play pattern, nor does it protect him (and abilities that let a planeswalker protect itself are generally better than they would be elsewhere)
