I can understand where that complain comes from: in the past, Expanded has had some degenerate combos, and its not fun to play when, on your first turn of the game, your opponent has already set up a Vileplume (Ancient Origins) preventing you from playing Item cards, or used some combination of cards to make you discard all your hand

destroy it, then Special Summon 1 "Crystal Beast Token" with the destroyed monster's original Type, Attribute, Level, and ATK/DEF

Both benefit from proliferation in obvious ways
