An Antique Hand Forged Iron Four Ring Jointed Dray Bit - Bit945 gaucho The ApproachThis old bit was possibly made by a local blacksmithIt has a jointed mouthpiece.. It has two sets of bit rings in the manner of a Wilson snaffle, the inner pair of rings are connected via "S" hooks to another pair of rings. Presumably the upper hanging rings could be detached from hooks on the bridle, making this a watering bit. It was probably used on a dray or farm horse. One of the snaffle rein rings is quite worn. There are no identifying marks.
