The frames are cut from acetate derived from cotton pulp, and the front is shaped and cut from a single slab and carved by hand to fit around the nose and cheekbones. These glasses are cut with an octagon frame from a piece of acetate that is molded in a color gradient that goes from a light brown to a darker shade, hence the name "Earl Grey".
