Like all prior models it was made from wind-resistant cotton poplin and had pen pockets behind both chest cargo pockets

more commonly known as the Hump airlift

The two bellows type chest pockets and two lower inside hanging pockets were closed by snap fasteners and the hood was zipped into the back of the coats rounded collar. Like its M1951 predecessor it had both waist and hem drawstrings and could be fitted with a detachable liner.
