Y.Z. Kami: Black Dome 1969 and the feuds with leadingY. Z. Kami created Black Dome, an iteration of his Dome paintings, in 2018. It recalls the concentric forms the artist saw in Persian architecture as a teenager, and later observed in Byzantine churches and basilicas. For Kami, the dome inspires contemplation and is a metaphor for the heavens.
