Adrienne Ballou, the low intervention force behind this tiny Texas Hill Country label, co planted worlds here: a field blend of Grenache Blanc and Vermentino grown on the granite dome of the Llano Uplift outside Pontotoc. Those Mediterranean grapes plus that unusual granitic soil give a white that's textured and savory rather than simply crisp, with floral lift and real presence. From one of the most
