His father Lucien originally founded the family estate in Gevrey Chambertin in the 1950s. Les Evocelles sits at the northern edge of the Gevrey Chambertin appellation, on terraces at the top of the slope with full eastern exposure. The name evolved from "Les Brosselles" (scrubland) when vines were first planted
